ผ้าคลุมเตียง/ผ้าห่ม เป็นผลิตภัณฑ์ที่กลุ่มชาวบ้าน ใน ต.ช่อแฮ อ.เมือง จ.แพร่ ในการผลิตคนไทยในสมัยโบราณนิยมทอผ้าไว้ใช้ในครัวเรือน เพราะในสมัยนั้นยังไม่มีโรงงานทอผ้า แต่ละครัวเรือนจึงต้องเรียนรู้ วิธีการทอผ้าสืบต่อมาจากบรรพบุรุษ แม้แต่การตัดเย็บเสื้อผ้าก็ต้องใช้มือแทนเครื่องจักร ชาวบ้านไม่มีจักรเย็บผ้าต้อง ใช้เข็มกับด้ายในการเย็บและซ่อมแซมเสื้อผ้าเครื่องนุ่งห่ม โดยวิธีการเนา ด้น สอย และปักชุนด้วยมือมาโดยตลอด จากภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่นที่เป็นความคิดริเริ่มของบรรพบุรุษดังกล่าว จึงเป็นที่มาของการทำหัตถกรรมผ้าด้นมือของจังหวัด แพร่ ผ้าด้นมือของจังหวัดแพร่ถูกลืมเลือนไปชั่วระยะหนึ่ง ทั้งนี้เนื่องจากในช่วงที่มีเทคโนโลยีสมัยใหม่เข้ามาแทนที่ผู้ คนส่วนใหญ่หันไปนิยมใช้ผลิตภัณฑ์ที่ผลิตมาจากโรงงานอุตสาหกรรม เช่นผ้าห่ม ผ้าคลุมเตียง เป็นต้น ผลิตภัณฑ์ดังกล่าวนี้จะมีสีสันสวยงาม หลากสี โรงงานอุตสาหกรรมทอผ้าหลายแห่งได้ผลิตออกมาขายแข่งขันกันมากมาย ราคาก็ อยู่ในเกณฑ์ที่ไม่แพง จนถึงราคาแพงมากแล้วแต่คุณภาพของผ้า จนกระทั่งในปี 2530/1987 ชาวบ้านจังหวัดแพร่ได้เริ่มคิดถึงงานหัตถกรรมผ้าด้นมือที่บรรพบุรุษได้เคยทำมาแต่อดีต ความประณีตงดงามก็มีมากกว่าผ้าทอจากโรงงาน อุตสาหกรรม จึงได้รวมกลุ่มกันฟื้นฟูหัตถกรรมผ้าด้นมือขึ้นมาอีกครั้งหนึ่ง โดยการรวมกลุ่มของสมาชิกภายในหมู่บ้าน เรียกว่ากลุ่มหัตถกรรมผ้าด้นมือบ้านธรรมเมือง จังหวัดแพร่ การผลิตผ้าด้นมือประเภทผ้าห่มและผ้าคลุมเตียงของกลุ่มสมาชิก จะเริ่มจากการตัดผ้าตามพิมพ์ที่ทำไว้ แล้วนำ มาเย็บต่อกันให้เป็นลวดลายต่าง ๆ เป็นผืนตามขนาดที่ต้องการแล้วเขียนลวดลายลงบนผ้า เมื่อปูผ้าลงไปแล้วก็นำใย สังเคราะห์ปูทับลงไป หลังจากนั้นก็เนาด้านข้างให้ติดกันทั้ง 4 ด้าน แล้วนำไปเกาะติดกับไม้ยาว ยึดด้วยเหล็กขึงให้ตึง แล้วจึงใช้เข็มและด้ายด้นตามลายที่เขียนไว้ ในแต่ละเดือนทางกลุ่มสมาชิกจะสามารถผลิตผ้าด้นมือชุดผ้าคลุมเตียง ได้ประมาณ 20 ผืน ซึ่งมีทั้งผ้าคลุมเตียงขนาด 5 ฟุต และผ้าคลุมเตียงขนาด 6 ฟุต ระยะเวลาในการผลิตในแต่ละผืน ประมาณ 15-20 วัน
